The electrical energy was stored in rechargeable battery with a charge controller to regulate the charging process.
A. System Architecture The system architecture of the portable solar power supply is illustrated in Fig. 3. The prototype consists of : Solar panel for charging up the battery bank. Fig. 26 shows the end product of the portable solar power supply powering up a fluorescent bulb and charging a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone at the same time. This shows that the portable solar power supply has met its intended objective and is capable of operating some low power rated appliances.
